About Juanita

Juanita Shield-Laignel, founder of local business, Healing Touch, Writer, Artists and Holistic Therapist, is delighted to be part of The Shalbeck Centre, team.  Juanita began her quest for natural health and wholeness during 1993 when a close friend gifted her, a small box of essential oils and a book with the title ‘The Art of Aromatherapy’.

Enchanted by, not only the romance and exotic aromas of oils, but more importantly, enthralled by the many and various health benefits, Juanita soon qualified in Anatomy & Physiology and then Swedish Massage; a prerequisite to most other hands on therapies.  Extensive training in Aromatherapy followed and Healing Touch was born.

Juanita’s business grew, as did her therapy repertoire and before long, she was also able to offer Reflexology and Indian Head Massage and Herbal and Nutritional advice, to her ever increasing client base.

After ten years of full time therapy work, Juanita took a short healing sabbatical to plan her way forward and her life took a slightly different direction, culminating in a wonderful husband and two gorgeous children.  Meanwhile Juanita had added Reiki Healing to her therapies, as during other treatments, clients commented on heat or energy changes.  Juanita wanted to formalise this natural ability and Reiki is well-know/understood and insured by accredited bodies to which Juanita is affiliated.  Through her work with Reiki, Juanita has also developed a distance healing regimen which she calls Distance Balance Healing.

Juanita is also a professional Writer, Editor and Artist and with her love of words, art and healing therapies, she had long dreamed of somehow bringing all these passions together for the betterment of life and discovery/development of authentic self.  This has been achieved in Juanita’s Healing Art Cards.  Juanita is also developing a, sitting, clothes on, non-invasive, portable, treatment to incorporate elements of all her formal disciplines, to take out into populated areas, to bring therapies to those who may not otherwise meet the experience.
